Hypnobirthing Benefits both Mum and Birth Partner:

Picture
Many Hypnobirthing Practitioners are mums, just like me... mums who, having used the skills and techniques for the births of their own babies, were so inspired that they wanted to learn how to teach others so they could empower their births too.  Read all about the benefits of hypnobirthing for Mums below.

Us 'Hypno-mums' have tried hypnosis for birth and found that it works amazingly ...and I think that must be the biggest testimonial – because shouldn't life always be about practising what you preach?  Read why I decided to become a Hypnobirthing Practitioner here.

For your Birth Partner, whether it's your Husband, your Mum or your best mate, make sure they are not overlooked because when it comes to giving birth their support and complete confidence in their ability to support you can make all the difference between a calm, relaxed birth and a stressed, adrenaline fueled one.  Read why your Birth Partner should be involved below...

Hypnobirthing benefits for Mums:
  • Overcome any fears you have of birth
  • Feel relaxed and calm at all times, especially in the lead up to the birth and during the birth, regardless of what is happening around you
  • Considerably shorter labour and birth
  • Dramatically reduce the level of pain experienced in childbirth
  • Increased sense of being in control during the birth
  • Reduced the need for intervention, surgery and pain relieving drugs
  • Increased chance of having a calm, alert baby

Additional benefits reported by mamas include:
  • Increase in energy and well being
  • Have better quality sleep
  • Increased bonding with your baby
  • Enjoy comfortable breastfeeding
  • Decrease the chance of postnatal depression
  • Highly energized mums in good spirits following births that are calm and gentle
  • You’ll learn the techniques once for this birth, but then you can then use them again and again, no matter how many children you have
  • You can use the techniques to help calm and relax yourself any time you feel stressed out (I use them at the dentist!)
  • What you’ll learn through hypnobirthing is how you can confidently approach a safe, easier and more comfortable natural birth.
  • Hypnobirthing techniques work very effectively with home births, water births, hospital births, birthing centres.. it’s your choice what kind of birth to have – hypnobirthing helps them all.

Its always good to see the amazing benefits of hypnotherapy for childbirth being spread across the media by celebrities and high profile public figures, and you don't get much more high profile than these hypnobirthing mums who have either publicly announced how the techniques have helped them birth their babies or it's been reported that they have used hypnobirthing:  Fearne Cotton, Angelina Jolie, Duchess of Cambridge, Jessica Alba, Gisele Bundchen, Giovanna Fletcher, Suzanne Shaw and Tiffani Thiessen.

Hypnobirthing benefits for Birth Partners:

Birth partners are often overlooked when it comes to giving birth but their support and complete confidence in their ability to support their partner can make all the difference between a calm, relaxed birth and a stressed, adrenaline fueled one.

Hypnobirthing certainly doesn’t require you to be a hypnotist and read great long scripts with flowery language to your partner.  You are simply shown how to create a safe, secure and protected atmosphere so she can take herself into a relaxed, hypnotic state.  You will be taught powerful triggers to help re-focus her attention and breathing whenever that may become necessary, ensuring that the two of you work together as an effective team to help bring your baby into the world.

If you decide to do a course, you are in good company; James Cracknell (OBE, British rowing champion and double Olympic gold medallist and adventurer) Matt Dawson (English Rugby Union player) and Tom Fletcher (singer and songwriter) are all Hypnobirth-dads!

By attending a workshop with you, a birth partner will:

  • Have a better understanding of the birthing process
  • Have the opportunity to discuss their fears, concerns and needs
  • Enjoy watching the mother let go of her fears and learn to relax deeply
  • Learn effective ways to support and help her during the birth
  • Learn how to help her have the birth that is right for her
  • Feel calmer and more relaxed about the forthcoming birth
  • Gain skills for life, to help you relax and help you sleep!

Still unconvinced? Take a read of the birth stories and reviews from workshop attendees, including some from birth partners.
